In NSW, each council has its own level of acceptance towards tiny homes. This means there’s no simple, clear-cut answer. However, we do have some general guidelines.
Generally, if you purchase a tiny home and install it on a property that already has an existing dwelling, then the council will have no problems with it.
Keep in mind that in NSW, you can’t live permanently in a tiny house on a vacant block of land which does not have a dwelling or planning permission for a dwelling. Also, you can’t park your tiny house too close to a neighbour’s fence or on an easement, or block a neighbour’s views.
